I've really come to love my M1 MacBook Air and enjoy using MacOS. But after getting a bit more into tech over the last few years, I'm really interested in trying out Linux on my laptop. I've heard about dual booting, but I'm unsure if I can make Linux my only OS. Is that a good idea? Also, what Linux distributions are good for Mac hardware? Will I lose the benefits like efficient RAM management when switching over to Linux? I'd prefer a distro that resembles MacOS to help with the transition. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, Linux might have a tough time running on Macs from what I’ve read. It's definitely worth keeping that in mind before you dive in.
Have you considered using UTM to run Linux in a virtual machine? It's open-source and could be a good way to start without fully committing. I used VM's long ago and it was a good experience.
Definitely try UTM along with Asahi Linux if you’re feeling adventurous! It could work well for your M1.
You could check out Asahi Linux for a more native experience. It aims to support Mac hardware well!
I've heard of it too! Seems like a solid option for M1 users.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll give UTM a try and see how it runs on my setup.
