I'm planning to switch to Cachy OS this weekend and I'm looking for the best way to install it on my main 1TB NVMe drive without losing any of my data. I also have an extra 1TB SATA SSD and 200GB of cloud storage available. Would it be possible to clone my data to the other SSD without running into any issues with Windows, or should I just back up the essential files instead?

One great option is to install Linux on that 1TB SATA SSD instead. It’s simple and will keep your main drive untouched, solving your problem right away!
Make sure you back up your data to an external drive that can be unplugged. Trust me, having that safeguard is crucial just in case something goes wrong and you accidentally point to the wrong drive when installing. You definitely don't want a drive failure to happen before you're even able to switch!
Definitely back up your data first, even if you're not switching to Linux yet. I suggest checking your user folder for things like documents and photos, and then copying those to a reliable external drive or cloud storage. It's also a good idea to back up any games too, just to keep your save files safe. After that, unplug the extra drive to avoid any mix-ups during the Linux install. You could also consider dual booting at first, which lets you transfer your files before fully committing to Linux, although it can take more time.
When in doubt, always back things up!
