I'm looking for a reliable way to migrate a user profile from a Windows 10 laptop to a Windows 11 laptop, specifically the Home editions. My plan was to create a new user profile named 'person1' on Windows 11, log off the current user, and log on to 'person1' to let it set up. After that, I intended to copy over all the files from the 'person1' folder on Windows 10 to the corresponding folder on Windows 11, replacing existing files. However, after logging out and back into the 'person1' account on Windows 11, I encountered an error saying the profile couldn't load, which seems to be related to Group Policy. I'm particularly concerned about getting the AppData folder working like it did on Windows 10. Anyone have any tips or solutions for this?

In-place upgrades are actually a simpler way to manage the transition, especially if you’re moving from 10 to 11. It usually maintains the user profiles intact without needing any extra steps. Just update your Windows 10 laptop directly to 11 and see how that works!
You might want to try using TransWiz for migrating your profile instead of copying it manually. It’s designed for this kind of task and handles user settings better than just a straight copy. Check their site for the download!
I've used TransWiz before, and it worked well for me, so it could be a good option! Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll take a look at that.
That sounds like a solid plan! I might give that a try.
