How to Transition My Plex Server from Windows to Linux?

I'm planning to move my Plex server from Windows 10 to Linux since my current setup (R5 1600 + R9 290) isn't compatible with Windows 11. I have a couple of key concerns. Firstly, my media library is stored on external hard drives, and I'd like to know if Linux will recognize these drives without needing to reformat them. Secondly, I run this server headless and connect remotely for maintenance. Is this still possible on Linux, or does it depend on the distro? I typically use RDP from my phone or tablet for updates and a Windows laptop for bigger file transfers.

I’d suggest giving TrueNAS SCALE a try. It’s pretty straightforward and has a web interface for management, which is perfect for your headless setup. Just make sure to back up everything before switching. TrueNAS works with ZFS and will guide you on setting up your drives. However, I'd advise against using NTFS since it's not ideal for Linux.

I wasn’t aware of that version! It sounds like it could fit my needs perfectly. I also run Pi-hole using Ubuntu on this machine. Is Pi-hole supported on TrueNAS? And how can I transfer my data if I reformat one of those external drives?
