I'm looking to upgrade my SSD from a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB to a new Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB, but my motherboard only has one M.2 slot. How can I safely transfer my data and switch over to the new SSD without causing any issues? Do I need a second computer or any special tools to get this done?

You can definitely make this work! First, check what motherboard you’re using; that info helps with the best advice. If you have an MSI B450-A PRO MAX, it should support your needs. You can use a USB enclosure for M.2 SSDs or get a PCIe adapter. Both options have worked for me in similar situations, so either should do the trick! Just make sure you back up your data first before switching over to the new SSD.

Definitely look at getting an M.2 USB enclosure or a PCIe adapter. They're both pretty useful for this. That way, you won't need a second computer at all. Just connect it while you swap your SSDs, and you’ll be able to migrate your data easily! If you need recommendations on specific products, let me know!
