Hey everyone, I recently advertised some used furniture and one of the buyers messaged me a link via WhatsApp. Foolishly, I clicked on it, and it opened in Safari (private browser). It showed a message saying "establishing connection" and then prompted me to click to confirm I'm not a bot. I panicked and closed the window right away. Now, I'm really worried that something might have downloaded to my phone, or that I might be hacked in some way. Is that possible? I didn't click on anything else or enter any info on that site. Just for context, I have an iPhone 14 Pro with the latest updates. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I totally understand your concern, but you didn't download anything just by clicking the link. Viruses usually come from downloading files, accepting permissions, or similar actions. Just be careful in the future. If you can share what domain the link was from, it might help assess it better, but trust me—you're probably safe!
You should be alright! It's pretty tough to hack phones, especially iPhones. Just clicking a link by itself usually won't lead to any issues. What you encountered was likely a captcha verification to confirm you aren't a bot, which is pretty common. If you're worried, just keep your phone updated, and don't download anything suspicious in the future. You're probably fine!

Thanks! I was just really caught off guard. I know it usually prompts for downloads, and I can't remember if I disabled that feature. If I didn't, can you guide me on how to check that? I appreciate your help!
