I Dropped My iPhone in Water—Is It Still Usable?

Hey everyone! This morning while doing the dishes, I accidentally dropped my iPhone 11 into the sink and it landed in a bowl of water. I fished it out right away and wiped it off, but before I could turn it off, I noticed a strange smell from my fridge. My fridge had just broken, so I ended up using my phone for about an hour to contact a repair service. By the time I remembered about my phone, I powered it down and put it in some rice by a fan to dry out. During those hours, it seemed to work fine, though I did get a notification about water in the charging port. I'm really worried and would love to know if my phone can be saved, and if there are any tips to help improve its chances of recovery. Thanks for your help!

Generally speaking, iPhones handle water pretty well. Just remember, it might sound a bit odd from the speakers after drying. In a few days, it should sound just fine. Make sure you don't plug it in before it's dry though!

Your phone should be okay! The iPhone 11 is rated IP68 for water resistance, so it can handle some exposure. Just give it some time to dry out completely before trying to use it again, and it should be back to normal shortly.

Oh, and iPhones are pretty resilient when it comes to water! Just avoid plugging it in. If you're worried about the charging port, try using a cotton swab or a bit of lint-free cloth to clean it out gently. Apply a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely.

I actually did plug it in after the incident! I didn’t remember until I got that notification. Hopefully, that won't be too big of an issue.
