I Think I Downloaded a Virus—What Should I Do?

I accidentally downloaded something called the "Koqlpo Cynav tool" from some sketchy websites, and it turned out to be a Legion Loader virus. I managed to close the .msi installer halfway through and then did a system restoration while keeping my files. However, I'm worried because I don't have anything backed up, and I can't install Windows offline since I don't have a flash drive anymore. Right now, my computer is disconnected from the internet, and I've run multiple antivirus scans like Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, and HitmanPro, but they didn't catch anything. I've heard Legion Loader can be difficult to detect. How bad is my situation? Could the virus have affected my new Windows installation? Are my previous .exe files compromised? What should I do next?

It sounds like you're in a tough spot, but you've taken some good first steps by disconnecting from the internet and running scans. Since you suspect Legion Loader, which can be sneaky, I’d recommend doing a complete wipe of your system and reinstalling Windows if possible. If you don’t have a flash drive for installation, consider borrowing one or creating a bootable USB from another computer. Also, during the reinstallation, make sure to format your drive to eliminate any lingering malware. As for your previous .exe files, if they were on the same drive, they could potentially be compromised, so it's best to be cautious and avoid using them until you’ve confirmed they’re safe.

You did the right thing by stopping the installer and running antivirus scans. The fact that you’re not finding anything doesn’t mean you’re in the clear, especially with the Legion Loader being hard to detect. Since you can't back up everything, running a reputable malware removal tool again could help, but I still suggest preparing for a full system reinstall. In the future, always download software from trusted sources and avoid clicking on suspicious links. And remember, to keep your data safe, having a backup plan in place, like external storage, is always a good idea!

I completely agree. Prevention is key! Always check the software reviews and try to stick to official channels when downloading any tools.
