I Think I Messed Up My ARGB Connection, What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I recently got a KING95 Ultra Case, and it comes with an ARGB header. I followed the installation guide (or maybe I assumed things a bit too much) and connected the ARGB header wire to the SPDIF OUT port on my motherboard. When I did a quick test to check if everything was working, the ARGB wire started to overheat. So here are my questions: 1. Is my ARGB cable completely fried, and will I need to replace it? 2. What did I do wrong with the connection? 3. What exactly is the SPDIF OUT port for, and should I have connected my header to that or to the CPU FAN port instead? Thanks for your help!

The SPDIF OUT port is actually meant for audio, not for ARGB connections. You should connect your ARGB header to a 5V ARGB header instead. If your cable's getting fried, it might be done for, so replacing it would be a safe bet.

So I see 3 pin holes in my ARGB cord, but the CPU FAN1 has 4 pins. Should I connect it to the ARGB spot with three pins instead?

Yes, definitely go for the 3-pin ARGB port for that connection!

To clarify, the ARGB header should go into the specific 3-pin ARGB header on your motherboard. If you're seeing another port without a support bracket, that's normal. Just make sure it fits snugly in the right spot. If it doesn’t have the outer support, as long as it's seated properly, it should be fine.

Thanks! So it's okay if it lacks that outer support as long as it's inserted correctly?

Exactly! Just ensure it’s secure and you should be good to go.
