I recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU, but my new setup isn't posting. When I push the power button, the fans spin briefly before stopping, but the CPU and GPU fans keep running without any display on the monitor. There's a persistent yellow light on the left side of the motherboard that might be relevant. I'm pretty sure it's not a BIOS issue, as the motherboard packaging indicates it's ready for the AMD Ryzen 5500. Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: Asus Prime B550M-A Wifi II
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- GPU: Gigabyte Windforce 2070 Super
- RAM: GSkill RipJaws 2x16GB DDR4
So far, I've tried several troubleshooting steps: removing one stick of RAM, switching RAM sticks, taking out the GPU, changing RAM channels, replacing the GPU, and unplugging all SATA connectors. I've also included an image of the yellow light in my original post.

First, does your motherboard beep when you try to start it? Also, are you absolutely sure the CPU is installed properly? Sometimes a loose connection can cause issues. And don't forget to check that the RAM is seated correctly. Those are some basic things to rule out.
Just to clarify, you have the monitor plugged into the GPU, right? The Ryzen 5 5500 doesn't have integrated graphics, so if you're connecting to the motherboard, it won't display anything. If you've tried both ways and it still doesn't work, there might be another issue to investigate.
Yeah, I've connected it both ways to be sure, but no signal either way.
Did you remember to transfer your SSD or any storage with Windows? Also, make sure your monitor is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard. The Ryzen 5 5500 doesn't have integrated graphics, so that could be the issue! What does the yellow light indicate? It might help if you can share a clear picture of it in your post.
I haven't moved any storage yet; this was originally an Intel setup. I plugged the monitor into the GPU and even tried the port on the motherboard but no luck. The yellow light image is added in the OP.
No beeps at all. I double-checked the CPU install and aligned the triangles, so all seems good there.
