I recently upgraded my system from an i5 4790 to an i5 14600KF on a B760-plus DDR4 motherboard from Asus. I've paired it with 16GB of 3200MHz RAM and an RTX 5070. However, I'm experiencing some serious performance drops. When running Cinebench R20, the CPU initially pulls around 130-140 watts at full load for the first 50-60 seconds, but then the power draw drops to about 60 watts, severely affecting performance. I've adjusted the PL1 and PL2 power settings to 181 watts and increased the long duration package time, plus disabled IA CEP. Despite that, the CPU temp stays below 75°C at full load, and my VRM temps have maxed out at 70°C. I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions on what might be going wrong. Thanks!

You might want to look into updating your BIOS first. There are also cooling profiles you can set that can help. I followed a guide for 14 series Intel processors, and it did wonders for my performance and temp management. If I can find the link, I'll share it with you!
Absolutely! That guide really changed the way I handle CPU setups. It might not be exactly right for your B series board, but check it out—it could help a lot. Here’s the link to the guide that worked for me: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/guide-how-to-set-good-power-limits-in-the-bios-and-reduce-the-cpu-power-draw.400270/#post-2272781.
Have you tried resetting the BIOS? Sometimes a simple reset can resolve weird bugs, but it's also possible that the issue lies with your CPU or motherboard VRM.
I reset it, but the problem came back.
Check the 'Performance limit reasons' in HWInfo while you’re testing. It can give you clues about what’s throttling your CPU performance.
At first, it showed 'maximum turbo,' which is normal, but when it throttles, there are no limits except for the max ring VR voltage. I tried lowering the cache frequency, which helped a bit, but the main issue persisted.
I had a similar issue with my i5 14600KF on an Asus B660 Prime DDR4 WiFi. The VRM section on that board was really poor, and it couldn't boost to 5.3GHz. After switching to a better motherboard, the performance improved dramatically. Unfortunately, I've heard the Asus B760’s VRM isn't much better.

I haven't updated the BIOS yet, but my temps are fine with the Deepcool LE360 V2. Do you really think updating the BIOS could solve this?
