Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and would love some guidance. I've used it a bit on an old laptop just for web browsing, but I never really explored the OS. As a long-time Windows 11 user, I switched because my setup is about 6 years old, and I didn't want to upgrade my hardware. I mainly use my computer for development work and some light gaming, but Windows consumes a lot of resources and has unnecessary bloatware. So, I decided to dive into Linux and started with Fedora, but it felt a bit overwhelming, so I switched to Ubuntu. I'm really enjoying it! It's snappier and less demanding. However, I feel like I'm not fully utilizing it yet. I'm looking to learn more about Linux, how to integrate it into my development workflow, boost my productivity, and just get a better feel for the ecosystem overall. I've seen tons of YouTube videos, but it feels like I'm in a candy store and get confused easily. Any general tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the Linux world! Just let me know when you're ready for the Arch Linux adventure! 😄
Linux is super flexible! It can be tailored to your needs, but some setups may be a bit more challenging. If you run into specific issues or projects that you want to tackle, don’t hesitate to ask about those!
Thanks! I feel Ubuntu suits me better too. I'll definitely give Zen a shot. For context, I’m mainly into Java backend development, but I’m also starting to get into shell scripting.
Awesome that you're trying out Linux! I started with Ubuntu too, but found that Pop!_OS works better for me. No issues with Ubuntu though, it’s really about what fits your style. For browsing, Firefox is popular, but you might enjoy trying Zen Browser for a fresh look. What kind of development work do you typically do? Are you focused on cross-platform, web development, or Linux-specific projects?
Haha, I might consider it! I thought Ubuntu would be a smoother transition from Windows, but who knows? Maybe Arch will be in my future once I get more comfortable!
