Indie Game Developer Transitioning to Freelance Web Development: Need Advice

Hey everyone! I'm a first-time poster and an indie game developer looking to make the leap to web development. I'd really appreciate some guidance on the best path for me.

Here's a bit about me: I've spent years working with C++ in game development, and I prefer backend development over frontend work. I'm more interested in freelance commissions than a full-time job at a company. I've been really impressed with C# and the .NET framework but I'm open to exploring other backend frameworks that could be more useful for freelance work.

So, I have a few questions: is .NET (specifically C#) a good choice for freelancing and commissions? If not, which backend languages or frameworks might offer better opportunities? Also, what should I focus on learning first—databases, APIs, cloud services, or specific frameworks—to boost my marketability as a freelance backend developer? Lastly, any tips for beginners looking to start taking on freelance projects? Thanks in advance for your help!

You might want to check out using Blazor and .NET Core for full-stack development with C#. You have the option to integrate popular front-end frameworks like React if you want. Just keep in mind that you'll need to learn about AWS and Azure, but I have to be honest; I think you'll find more stability if you work for a company instead of freelancing. It's tough out there!

Sounds like .NET full-stack could work, but I get your point about stability. Do you think I should focus solely on backend skills like APIs and databases instead of trying to go full-stack?
