I'm having a major problem with my new PC build and could really use some help. When I power on the system without any GPU installed in the PCIe slots, everything runs fine, but as soon as I put any GPU in, the PC either won't power on or shuts down immediately, like a circuit breaker tripping. This happens even when the GPU isn't connected to any power cables! Here are my specs: I'm using an ASUS ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi D4 motherboard with an Intel Core i9-13900KF processor and a be quiet! 1000W PSU. I'm testing with two different RTX 4080 GPUs, but both cause the same shutdown issue. I've updated the BIOS successfully, so I'm stuck on what to try next before considering returning the components. Any tips would be really appreciated!

Installing a GPU while the machine's on can cause issues, but I get it might have been a misunderstanding. Since the shutdown happens without power to the GPU, it points to either a compatibility problem or possibly a faulty PCIe slot. Try reseating the GPU and see if it helps!
Sounds like a weird issue! First up, double-check the GPU power cables, just in case. Often, those instant shutdowns occur when there's not enough power or if there’s a short somewhere. Even with a 1000W PSU, if something's not connected properly, it might trip the system. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m using the same cables I’ve always had with no issues, but I’ll give it another look just to be sure.

I definitely didn't install it while powered before! But reseating is a good idea; I haven't tried that yet.
