I have Comcast internet running at around 2.2 to 2.4 Gbps through WiFi in my small apartment. We use two gaming PCs, two Xbox consoles, a smart TV for streaming (we don't have cable), and three phones. Normally, we're using the PCs a lot, perhaps with one console or the TV on at the same time. I'm happy with the current service, but the price recently jumped from $85 to $115, even with discounts for autopay and going paperless. Now I see that AT&T is offering a 1 Gbps fiber optic plan in my area for just $37 per month after canceling my current plan. Is 1 Gbps sufficient for our internet usage, or would we face issues?

Honestly, you’re paying way too much for internet. For your usage, even 300 Mbps would cover you. The standard requirement for 4K streaming is around 15 Mbps, and for gaming, it’s about 100 Mbps. So clearly, 1 Gbps would be fine!
Definitely, 1 Gbps should be more than enough for your setup. You won’t run into issues unless everyone is online doing heavy downloads at the same time, which is unlikely. It's great that you’re thinking of switching to a cheaper plan—2 Gbps is overkill for what you described!
Thanks for the reassurance!
Yeah, bandwidth is key here. With 1 Gbps, you'd have symmetrical upload and download speeds, which is awesome for gaming and streaming. Plus, if you ever run into speed issues, you can always check your WiFi connections to see how that's affecting your speeds. It sounds like fiber would be a solid upgrade for consistent performance!

I was feeling the same before the increase. Thanks for confirming!
