Hey everyone! I've been toying with the idea of getting or building a gaming PC for a while now, and I'm curious about how much I should spend. I already have a PS5, so I'm mainly looking to use a gaming PC for AA and indie games, plus some AAA titles for modding and emulation. Given current prices and trends, is $1000 AUD a reasonable budget for a decent gaming setup, or is it way too low?

With recent price hikes, $1000 AUD won't stretch far at all. You might cover a basic CPU and RAM, but that’s about it. If you're mainly into indie games, you might want to check out used options. It’s a tough market right now, though!
Thanks for the heads up!
Not too long ago, $1000 could get you a solid rig, but those days are kinda over. If you're willing to dig, you might find some older models for a good price, but most sellers seem to think their outdated components are still worth a fortune!
Exactly! People are delusional with some of their asking prices.
Lol, tell me about it!
I did some digging on PCPartPicker, and while my build came in around $1150 AUD, it was quite basic with 16GB of RAM and some compromises. It'll handle 1080p gaming okay, but it's definitely above your $1000 target. Worth checking, though!
Every little bit helps, right?
Exactly, I appreciate the input!
Definitely, $1000 isn’t going to get you a solid build right now. You'll spend over half of that just on decent RAM. I'd recommend scoping out the second-hand market; you might find a better deal there!
It's rough out there for buyers, gotta be quick!
I’ll keep that in mind!

Yeah, I’ve seen used rigs going for way more than they’re worth lately!
