Is $1500 a Fair Price for Website Rebuild and Maintenance?

I'm trying to figure out if I'm being charged fairly by my web developer. Previously, I was hosting my site with GoDaddy, but after hiring this guy, he took over the hosting and has now proposed a rebuild for $1500. He mentioned my site is out of date and requires an upgrade to the latest software and WordPress builder for good design and security. He recommends monthly updates and is essentially suggesting I need a complete rebuild instead of just updates. I'm not sure if this price is reasonable or if it's just him trying to make some extra cash off me. What questions should I ask him to clarify everything?

You should definitely clarify some things first. Ask him what specifically needs to be rebuilt versus just updated, and make sure you understand what full access to your hosting means. If he can easily explain the process and what you're getting for your money, that's a good sign!

That price seems reasonable for a complete overhaul, especially if your site's been stagnant for ages. A website needs regular updates, like pets need care! If the developer is updating outdated software and ensuring security, it justifies the cost. Just remember, a pro would charge a lot more for any noteworthy work!

Just be careful! Automated updates are usually quick, but if your site is really outdated, significant manual labor could be needed here. If that’s the case, $1500 could actually be on the low end. Check into how many plugins or past updates might have issues. The extent of this 'rebuild' will make a difference in the price!

While $1500 isn’t the worst price, it might be helpful to push for specifics. What does the rebuild include? Is it purely technical improvements or a new design too? Understanding the full scope will help you see if the price aligns with what you need.

Honestly, I think that price is too high for a website rebuild. It shouldn’t go over $500 unless it's a big company or major overhaul. You might want to explore other options or get a couple more quotes to compare!
