Is 48GB DDR5 RAM Worth It Compared to 64GB Given Today’s Prices?

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for new RAM and have been eyeing the prices lately. I initially wanted 64GB because I often run games that consume a lot of RAM and CPU. But with prices soaring, 64GB is around $500 now, which is quite steep. I found a decent deal for a 48GB kit from Corsair that costs $310. It's a DDR5 RAM (2x24GB), 6000MT/s, CL30, and supports both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP. Given my planned AMD 9800X3D CPU, I think having EXPO support is crucial. Do you think the 48GB kit is a good compromise at this price point? Or should I hold out for a 64GB kit? With Black Friday approaching, I'm worried prices will keep climbing. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

For general usage and gaming, 48GB should be more than sufficient for quite a while. It seems like a solid choice considering the current market prices.

So you think this is a good buy during these crazy RAM price hikes?

All the 48GB kits use Hynix M-die that can usually be overclocked pretty well with your AMD setup. Just a heads-up—last week I got my G.Skill 2x24GB 8000 CL38 kit for $210, which is way less than what’s currently being quoted. Prices are tough right now!

I know, right? It's frustrating seeing how much the 64GB kits have shot up in price.

Sounds like a good plan to me! Just keep in mind that there's always at least one component that's on the rise price-wise.

What games are you playing that make you feel you need more than 32GB? Just curious!

Mostly heavily modded Minecraft, pushing high render distances and using performance mods!
