Is 50-60% RAM usage normal while just browsing?

I noticed my PC's memory usage hit around 60% while I was only using a browser like Firefox. I have 16GB of RAM, so I'm wondering if this is expected. Also, could someone explain what the desktop window manager and search software are? Thanks!

That's just how it goes sometimes. RAM usage can fluctuate, especially with a modern browser. Overall, you're not overdoing it!

Browsers can consume a lot of RAM, so it really depends on how many tabs you have open and what else is running. A lot of folks have background programs starting up automatically, which can add to the RAM usage. More details would help, but 60% isn't shocking!

It sounds like you're in the clear. My PC also runs about 60% usage just booting Windows, and I have 64GB. So with 16GB, you're doing fine!

Sounds pretty typical! 16GB is becoming the baseline these days, and 32GB is what most new builds recommend for better performance.
