I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with a DeepCool GammaXX 400 air cooler. My idle temperatures are between 50-65°C, usually around 55°C. This seems high for idle to me. Is this normal?

It's not uncommon to see idle temps in the low 50s, but 55°C feels a bit on the high side. What's your CPU temperature when it's under load? Idle temps aren't usually a big deal, but knowing your load temperatures can help assess if there's a problem.

Yeah, 55°C feels too high, even if idle temps don't matter much. Something could be off.

Consider your room temperature too. If it's warm and your cooler's fan isn't working hard, that could explain the higher temps. If the fan's not spinning up and you’re in a hot room, it might be worth checking your thermal paste or cooler mounting.

As a general rule, never let your Ryzen go above 90°C. For loads, aim for 60-80°C, and it's worth running some benchmarks or games to see how it performs under pressure. It took me a lot of tweaking to get my CPU and GPU to run below 70°C while gaming. Keep an eye on those temps!

Make sure to check your CPU voltage. If it's around 1.4-1.5V, you might want to apply a -0.100 offset in the BIOS to help lower those temps.

Honestly, your cooler is kind of weak for that system. The stock cooler would likely perform better than what you have now.

That’s not true; the GammaXX isn't that bad, it can still hold its own.
