Is a 5070 GPU Suitable for Music Production?

I'm planning to set up a third computer dedicated to music production, and I'm looking for advice on selecting the right processor and GPU. I'm considering the 5070 Founders Edition for the GPU, but I'm unsure about the processor. Would the 9700X be a good fit? I'll primarily be using software like Ableton, Cubase, and FL Studio.

If you're worried about performance for larger projects, you could skip the GPU entirely and just use the integrated graphics on the 9700X. If budget allows, bumping up to a 9900X would provide some extra headroom.

Typically, music production software doesn’t rely heavily on the GPU, so you're safe with a basic setup. Many builds aimed at music production have low-tier GPUs or even just use integrated graphics. You might not need anything high-end like the 5070 at all.

Honestly, I think you're looking at some overkill here. Music production isn't super demanding on the CPU, so the 9700X should work just fine. As for the 5070, while it's a solid card, you might find more value in a 16GB card instead if you're working with complex projects.

A 5070 might be a bit overkill for music production. In fact, you could probably get away with a 5060 Ti or even a 5050 since most music software doesn’t really take advantage of Nvidia’s specific features like CUDA. I'd suggest saving some cash and considering something around $250 like an Intel ARC B580 instead!
