Is a 650W Gold PSU Enough for My RTX 5060 Build?

I'm building my first PC, and I'm a bit confused about the power supply I should choose. I've got an MSI B760M motherboard, an RTX 5060 with 8GB, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB drive, along with the necessary components. My main concern is my budget. Do I need a 650W Gold power supply, or would it be better to go with a 750W Gold to ensure safety and performance? I'm especially worried about overclocking my GPU – can a 650W handle that safely?

I'd recommend going with the 750W PSU for some extra headroom, especially if you plan to tweak your settings later on. It's always better to have a little more power in reserve for future upgrades as well. I found a solid option, the ADATA Core Reactor 2, for around $80, and it's rated A+ on the PSU tier list.

A 650W PSU should be sufficient if it’s a quality make. The 750W is more of a safety net for potential upgrades down the line. Given that you plan to stick with this setup for a few years, 650W might be all you need.

I spent a good amount on this build, so I’m not planning to upgrade anything except maybe an SSD in the future.

Don't just focus on wattage alone. The 80+ Gold certification indicates efficiency, but it doesn't guarantee quality. It’s really about the specific models you’re considering. I'd choose a reliable 650W unit over a poorly made 750W any day. Focus on brands known for quality.

I hear you on that. I'm currently leaning towards a Deepcool PSU.

You don't necessarily need more than 500W for a 5060 with a B760M setup. It’s more important to get a high-quality PSU than just a high wattage one. Just make sure your 650W unit is a good one.

That makes sense! I’m looking at the Deepcool PN650 Gold specifically.
