Is a 650W Power Supply Sufficient for My New Setup?

I'm in the process of upgrading my PC, having just purchased an RX 9070 XT graphics card and a Ryzen 5 7600x CPU. Right now, I can't get a power supply or monitor until the start of next month, but I'm hoping to wait until around Christmas to snag a deal. In the meantime, I'm wondering if a 650W power supply would be enough to power my setup, which includes 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, a B650 motherboard, 10 fans (9 of which are RGB), and 2 SSDs. Could I manage with 650W for just a month?

In theory, 650W should suffice since the estimated consumption for your rig is about 530W. However, I suggest upgrading the PSU soon. Temporarily, it might hold up, but the power spikes from the RX 9070 XT could push it past its limits.

You might be able to get away with 650W for a bit, especially if you underclock the GPU, but I would really recommend aiming for at least an 850W PSU for stability. Check out some PSU calculators to be sure—better safe than sorry!

Totally get that! I'm also waiting to grab an 850W PSU when it goes on sale.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I've decided to grab an 850W PSU (likely MSI or Corsair) on Monday along with a new monitor and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin CPU cooler. I'm pretty pumped about this upgrade!

Have you tried using PCPartPicker? It calculates wattage requirements for your entire setup. Mine averages around 750W, so I went with a 1000W PSU for a bit of overhead just in case I decide to upgrade in the future.
