I recently bought a fake iPhone 17 for just $30 as a joke. It's pretty slow and actually runs on Android. I'm curious about whether it's safe to log into my accounts, like WhatsApp and Gmail, or if I can connect it to my home Wi-Fi. Any advice would be appreciated!

I definitely wouldn’t trust that phone! While you technically can log into WhatsApp or Gmail, it’s really not a good idea. Fake iPhones often run modified Android versions that lack proper security. There's a good chance it might have spyware or other shady stuff that could steal your passwords. As for connecting to Wi-Fi, sure, it will connect, but I wouldn’t do it on your main home network. If you can, use a guest network or a hot spot to keep it separate from your important devices. If you're just messing around with it though, maybe it's fine, just don’t log into anything critical or save passwords on it! Treat it like a risky burner phone.
You might want to try installing Graphene OS for better security. It'll give you a more secure user experience on that device!

Just wait a day and I bet we’ll see another post from the original poster asking how to recover their Gmail and WhatsApp accounts because they used that fake phone. It's a risky gamble!
Thanks for the heads up! Is there a way to test the phone security without home Wi-Fi? I don't have a guest network or should I just get a SIM card with data?
