I'm putting together a high-end gaming PC and I'm considering connecting it to my TV instead of using a traditional monitor. My goal is to enjoy gaming from my couch with a controller rather than being stuck at a desk with a keyboard and mouse. Are there any potential downsides to using a TV in this setup? If my TV has specs that are on par with a monitor—like HDR, refresh rate, and resolution—how well will it perform? Are there issues like latency or lag that I should be aware of?

Honestly, unless it’s a really high-end TV, it probably won’t look or perform as well as a monitor. But most casual gamers won’t notice the difference unless they’re doing side-by-side comparisons. If your TV isn’t ancient, you’re likely to be pretty satisfied!
Just watch out for specs—some TVs might exaggerate their capabilities with things like motion rates. Newer TVs usually have game modes to reduce latency, though. If you’re not too picky, you’ll be fine! 100ms latency? You probably won’t even notice if you're playing casually!
Using a TV like this is a great way to replace a console. I’ve been gaming on mine for years with a comfortable setup on my couch. It's all about what your needs are, and for couch gaming, it’s awesome!
I’ve been using my TV as a monitor for a while, and it’s totally doable! Just make sure your TV has good specs, like a decent refresh rate. What model do you have? Does it support variable refresh rates?
If you’ve got a quality TV—like a 65-inch with high brightness, 4K resolution, and a solid refresh rate—gaming on it can be fantastic! Many TVs have a gaming mode that cuts down on lag, which is great. If you’re not playing ultra-competitive games like CS:GO, you’ll likely enjoy the huge screen and comfy couch setup!
It sounds like you’ve got a solid setup there!
I really agree with others here. If you are okay with some trade-offs like input lag (which you won’t notice unless you’re playing competitive FPS games), then gaming on a large TV can be just as fun as a monitor!
Transferring your PC's display to a TV is pretty straightforward as long as you’ve got an HDMI port. Just plug it in and you’re good to go!
If it’s a high-end OLED, keep in mind the risk of burn-in from static images. Otherwise, you should be fine. Most modern TVs can deliver an enjoyable gaming experience!
