Is a Ryzen 5600 Still Good for Gaming in 2026?

Hey everyone! I'm putting together a budget-friendly PC build and need some advice. With DDR5 prices going up, I've decided to skip on the AM5 and the Ryzen 7600 as they're out of my price range. I'm planning to go with a Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB of RAM, and a 500GB M.2 NVMe drive. My gaming goals mainly focus on strategy games like Anno and Age of Empires, but I also want to enjoy Battlefield 6. I have a 1080p 144Hz monitor and don't plan to upgrade to 2K or 4K anytime soon. I have a budget of $200 for a graphics card. I'd like to know if the Ryzen 5600 will handle my gaming needs in 2026, especially for CPU-heavy games, and also which graphics card I should look for that fits within that $200 budget. Thanks for the help!

Just a heads up, don't expect a steady 144 fps in Battlefield 6 with the Ryzen 5600. Most likely, you'll be hovering around 90-120 fps.

With a $200 budget, your best bet is probably a used 3070 or a 3060 Ti. Those cards should give you solid performance for your setup.

Yes, the Ryzen 5600 should still work well for your gaming needs in 2026, especially for 1080p gaming. However, for your graphics card, I recommend looking for a used 3060 with 12GB. Just make sure to check it out in person before buying.

Thanks for the tips! What do you think about the Intel Arc series? I found the ARC 380 for about $140 on Amazon.

If the 3060 is a bit pricey for you, check out a used 5700XT. It offers performance close to the 3060 and is usually cheaper. The AMD cards often drop in price more in the used market.

Good point! I keep forgetting about the 5700XT. Thanks for the reminder!

The Ryzen 5600 should be just fine for 1080p gaming. For your graphics card, you might want to consider a used 6600XT or a 3060, which are both solid options and might be around your budget.

Thanks! I was worried about the price of used cards, though. Any thoughts on the Intel Arc? I didn't mention it earlier, but I've been curious.
