Is AM4/DDR4 a Good Choice for 2025?

I'm on a budget and wondering if AM4 and DDR4 setups will still hold up in 2025. I'm considering two potential builds. The first one is with an R5 5600 paired with an RX 6600. The second build would be an R7 7700 with a 4070 Super that I plan to get two years from now. Are these setups still viable for UI/UX work and light gaming?

Yeah, AM4 is still a reliable option for 2025 unless you're looking for the latest tech. If you're on a tight budget, go with a used AM4 setup. But if you can stretch your budget, AM5 might be worth considering for long-term use.

I agree! The prices you're quoting are pretty good. Just make sure to look for deals!

AM4 is still solid for many applications. It's not outdated yet, especially for general use. You shouldn't have any issues with performance for UI/UX and light gaming.

If you're looking for top-tier performance, you might want to consider upgrading to AM5, especially with the R7 7700. It'll outperform most AM4 CPUs in gaming and efficiency. But for now, the 5800X3D and the 5900X are still competitive, even if they run hot in smaller cases.

That's true! I'm seeing the R5 5600 priced around $90.5, and the R7 7700 for about $190.5. Seems reasonable for a new build!

Honestly, AM4 is still fast enough and DDR4 won't hold you back since you can't use DDR5 on AM4 anyway. It should serve you well for your needs!
