I recently asked if an air cooler would be enough for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and most responses were in the affirmative. However, a local shop told me that I absolutely need a liquid cooler to prevent overheating. Is there any truth to their claim, or are they just trying to push sales?

Honestly, the salesperson probably doesn’t know what they’re talking about. The 7800X3D is super easy to cool, even under gaming loads. I’ve got one installed in my system, and it’s been running great with an air cooler.

Agreed, I wasn’t worried about cooling either, I just needed a decent air cooler and I’m all set. But that shop really got into my head with their sales pitch!
