Is antivirus software necessary for Nobara Linux?

I've been using Windows which has Microsoft Defender, but I'm curious if there are good antivirus options for Nobara Linux. I know Linux is generally less vulnerable to viruses, but I'm looking for some guidance. Ideally, I want a free antivirus solution since I typically don't visit sketchy sites or download pirated games.

Linux generally doesn't have the same malware problems as Windows does. Just make sure you're only using software from official repositories and avoid random websites, and you should be all set without an antivirus.

Most Linux users don't bother with antivirus software since it's often more about user behavior than actual malware. If you're careful about downloading only from trusted sources, you'll likely be fine without it. Just think of the user being the best antivirus.

Yeah, it really comes down to common sense. Stick to your package manager for downloads, and you should be good!

Honestly, antivirus is mostly for those who aren't careful with their downloading habits. If you’re vigilant and don’t click on suspicious links or download unknown software, you should be fine without any antivirus on Nobara.

You might want to check out ClamAV, which is an option for scanning files. It's more geared towards detecting Windows malware but can be useful if you're anxious about any sketchy files. However, most Linux users I know haven’t felt the need for it at all.
