Hey everyone! I'm completely new to Linux and currently using Windows primarily for gaming and web browsing. I'm really interested in trying Linux to get a better understanding of how computers work. I've heard a lot of good things about Arch Linux, especially that it's great for learning since you have to set everything up yourself. However, I'm concerned it might be too challenging for me as a beginner. Should I go ahead and try Arch as my first distro, or are there easier options like Pop!_OS or EndeavourOS that would be better for someone just starting out? I'm open to reading documentation and learning as I go. Thanks for any advice!

Honestly, jumping straight into Arch might be overwhelming for a beginner. If you're looking for something easier, consider starting with Linux Mint or Pop!_OS. They have friendly interfaces and will let you get used to Linux without the hassle. Once you feel comfortable, you can try something like Arch in a VM to get a feel for it without the risk of messing up your main system.
If you're determined to learn, go for Arch, but prepare for some challenges. The installation can be a bit tricky, especially for a newbie. It's a huge learning opportunity, though. Just be sure to check out the Arch Wiki and maybe have a backup plan with a simpler distro in case you find it too frustrating at first!
I’d recommend going for a more beginner-friendly distro first and perhaps try Arch in a virtual machine later. If you're eager to read and learn, the Arch Wiki is fantastic! Just keep in mind it can be a steep learning curve right off the bat.

Make sure you read everything beforehand! It’s not just about following video guides; sometimes, they can lead you astray with outdated info.
