I've been thinking about auto-unlocking my keyring, but I'm not sure if it's a wise choice. It seems a bit annoying to enter my password every time I open an app after logging in, but I also use auto-login. Does automatic unlocking compromise security, or am I overthinking it?

I think it really comes down to your individual situation. On my laptop, I let the keyring auto-unlock because my sensitive files are encrypted, but I definitely wouldn’t go that route if I was using auto-login. Just be cautious!
Using auto-unlock for your keyring while having auto-login isn't ideal since both could make your setup less secure. Personally, I auto-unlock my keyring at home, but I also habitually lock my laptop and don’t use auto-login. It’s not top-notch security, but for my daily use, it feels manageable.
Honestly, I’ve got my desktop setup so it auto-unlocks, and I don’t worry about it too much because it rarely leaves my room. But I totally get why you’d want to be cautious!
Great question! I’ve never used auto-login either, but I’d definitely suggest turning off auto-unlock in that case. Seems like a risky combo!
