I'm currently going through my training to become a DevOps engineer, and I've got a background in electrical engineering. I'm wondering if I'm on the right path or if this will be too challenging for me. Any advice or encouragement would be really appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I’m in a similar boat myself—not really a developer but somehow pulled into the DevOps space. Who knows? Maybe it’s fate? Just use all the resources available to you: Talk to ChatGPT, Google things, just keep trying out new methods!

Do you have any experience in programming, infrastructure, or help desk roles? Since you're starting from scratch, it can be a long journey, but having your electrical engineering background is a good start. Check out basic Linux tutorials, pick a cloud platform, and learn a programming language. Get comfortable with the terminal too. This roadmap for DevOps can really help: roadmap.sh/devops. Wishing you the best of luck!

With an electrical engineering background, it might be challenging, but it’s definitely doable! Just remember, you need to be calm yet passionate, quick but steady, and not afraid to learn. It might sound cheesy, but it's like the qualities of a hero. Good luck!

I actually found my way into this career by accident! I started working with Jenkins pipelines, and now I'm the DevOps lead for my team. It’s totally possible, just keep pushing forward!

I had zero prior experience myself; I went to school for two years and got a job in the field. It can be overwhelming until you get that first internship, but if you persevere, you'll learn a lot. Just keep in mind, it's a competitive market out there. Hang in there!
