I'm planning to upgrade my system from 16GB to 32GB of Corsair LPX DDR4 RAM. My motherboard is a B550I Aorus PRO AX, and the current BIOS version I have is F15 from April 2022. A friend told me I should update the BIOS before making the swap. Do I really need to do that?

Generally, you don’t need to update your BIOS just for a RAM upgrade. However, it could be beneficial in some cases since BIOS updates often bring improvements in stability and security. So, it's worth considering even if it’s not strictly necessary.
Updating the BIOS isn't mandatory, but it could help with memory compatibility, especially if you're using faster RAM. I’ve seen AMD systems perform much better after updating to a newer BIOS.
You shouldn’t need to update your BIOS for the RAM upgrade itself. That said, there are advantages to having the latest firmware. Just make sure to check that you get the right BIOS version for your specific motherboard revision, which you can find on the board itself.
