Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building my own PC and trying to save some cash, so I thought about buying used parts. I recently picked up a motherboard from Micro Center, but the first one I got had a burnt-looking corner, so I returned it. The second one I bought was open box, and while it looked decent in the store, I've noticed that the CPU socket has some oddly sharp edges. Is this typical for open box items? Am I being too picky for expecting it to be in better condition? I'm really considering just buying a brand new one instead. Any advice would be appreciated!

Open box deals can be great but they do carry risks, especially from stores like Micro Center. They do resell returns without always fully testing them. I bought an open box motherboard before and it turned out to be bricked! It was frustrating, but they returned it without asking too many questions. So don't feel bad for expecting quality—they should be better screened!
Yeah, if you're saving around 50%, it might be worth accepting a few flaws. But if you're only getting a slight discount, definitely hold out for a new one!
