Is Coding Essential for Transitioning to AWS?

Hey everyone! I'm currently a Senior Consultant with nearly 9 years of experience, mainly in RPA, but I'm looking to switch gears into AWS by the end of this year or early next year. I'm curious about the role coding plays in this transition. Do I really need to know how to code? I've started taking the AWS Cloud Certified Practitioner course on Udemy. Is coding a big part of working with AWS?

You don't need coding knowledge for most certifications, including the CCP. It can help if you aim for the Developer certification, but even then, it's more about understanding what services to use rather than heavy coding.

Thanks for clarifying! So it sounds like I might not need advanced coding skills right away?

In an ideal scenario, yes, you'd want a coding mindset to leverage cloud tools. But for many positions, managing AWS through the console is perfectly fine. It’s a good idea to start picking up coding skills while you study for those certifications. Just keep in mind that the Cloud Practitioner certification is pretty basic—aim for something like the Solution Architect Associate if you're serious about your goals.

Got it! Should I focus on Cloud Practitioner first, then move on to the Solution Architect and Developer certs?
