I'm considering upgrading my SFF Optiplex 3000 with a 1080 Ti graphics card. I know it sounds like a silly question, but I'm really curious about whether this would be a terrible idea or if it's worth it. I'd likely need a new power supply and possibly some other components to make it work. My budget is around $300, and I can get the 1080 Ti for about $150. I'm trying to figure out if the extra costs for the PSU and anything else will exceed the price of getting a GPU that fits better in my smaller case. For reference, my computer doesn't have a cover, so I'm okay if the GPU sticks out and if the PSU has to sit outside the case as well.

Haha, this setup could become quite a beast if you pull it off! But go for it if you really want.
Just a heads up, most Dell motherboards need a proprietary PSU connection, so you can't just slap in a regular ATX power supply.
The 1080 Ti is getting pretty old, and for around $300, you could find a better GPU that offers improved performance. It might not be the best choice.
Just keep in mind that this budget should cover taxes, shipping, and the extra stuff like a PCIe riser and the power supply.
Honestly, I'm not doing anything super demanding either. I just want to hit that solid 60fps on games. This setup can be pretty frustrating at times.

Aren't there adapters available for those kinds of connections? I thought I saw some a while back.
