I've got one of those all-in-one Apple desktops that I mainly use just to watch DVDs. I'm seriously considering installing Linux on it because I'm not a fan of Apple's software. However, I'm curious about the potential issues I might face if I go ahead with this. Any advice would be appreciated!

First off, is your Apple desktop an iMac? Knowing the specs like the RAM and processor would really help. If it has an Intel processor, you should be in good shape for running Linux. If you’re not sure about the specs, just let me know and I can help you figure it out!
You might want to try running a Linux live USB first. It’s a quick way to test it out without making any changes to your system. This will let you see how it handles DVD playback before you commit to a full install.
Honestly, if you’re just using it for DVDs, installing Linux might not be worth it. Finding the right drivers and a good app for playing DVDs might just complicate things. If everything's working fine now, maybe it’s best to leave it as is and save yourself the hassle.

I'm pretty clueless about Apple stuff too, but I just know how to turn it on and play DVDs. I’ll dig into the specs and get back to you!
