I'm upgrading my PC and need advice on choosing between Intel and AMD. I'm planning to get a new motherboard and CPU to pair with my RTX 5070 Ti, and I have an 850W 80+ Gold power supply. I'm also looking to upgrade to an NZXT H7 Flow case with Arctic water cooling. My budget for the CPU is around 250-300 euros. So far, I'm considering a Gigabyte B760 Gaming X DDR4 motherboard with the Intel i5-14600KF. The main usage for this build will be gaming, with some work involved. Upgrading to DDR5 RAM is not an option right now due to costs.

Honestly, the power of those CPUs is more than enough for gaming with an RTX 5070 Ti. If you're serious about gaming and multitasking, consider i7 or Ryzen 7. They could handle both tasks without bottlenecking, but the i5-14600K paired with your parts seems like a reasonable choice considering your budget.
The i5-14600K is a solid pick for your build, and don't worry too much about RAM for now. You can always upgrade later if needed. Just ensure whatever motherboard you choose can handle your future upgrades, like DDR5 if you decide to go that route later on!
Sounds like a smart plan! But you should keep in mind that going DDR4 now might limit your future expansion options.
Since you're working within a tight budget, I'd recommend sticking with Intel's 12th or 13th generation if you're not on an AM4 system already. They generally give better performance, although they do consume more power. Just keep in mind, these platforms are pretty much at their end now, so there’s no real future-proofing left. But for your current build, they should serve you well!
Yeah, I see your point. Intel's definitely been leading in gaming performance lately.
You might want to check out used options for the CPU and motherboard. The performance difference between the 13th and 14th gen isn't worth the extra cost, especially if you're not going for a crazy high FPS. A used 13600K with a Z690 board could give you better value! Just something to think about when maximizing your build's potential.
Good call! You can save a lot that way and still get similar performance without the 14th gen markup.
If you're not going with DDR5, Intel is definitely the way to go. The i5-14600K and i7-14700K are solid options and should work well with your GPU. They provide excellent performance, especially for gaming. Just make sure your motherboard is compatible with the specs you're looking at!
Totally agree! The 14600K has been great for my gaming setup as well. Don't overlook the performance you'll get with DDR4.

I think you’ll be fine with the 14600K for gaming! Just make sure you have a good cooling solution.
