Is it a good idea to talk to my manager about my interest in DevOps?

I've recently started learning about DevOps and I'm really interested in making the switch to a DevOps role. At my current startup, we don't have a dedicated DevOps engineer; we handle deployments manually, which has given me a decent understanding of the deployment process and its pitfalls. We lack a proper CI/CD pipeline and containerization practices. Currently, I'm a software engineer with 2 years of experience mainly working on Spring Boot applications. I know it's a bit early to expect a full switch, but I'd like to ask my manager for more responsibilities in that area to help me grow and also contribute to the team. Is this a reasonable approach? Am I moving too fast considering I've only been learning for two days?

Definitely talk to your manager about your interests! It's a great way to show initiative. You might want to mention areas for improvement, like setting up a CI/CD pipeline, and express your enthusiasm to learn and contribute. It worked for me; now I manage multiple pipelines alongside my regular development work!
