I've always heard that leaving my phone plugged in for too long or using it while charging can damage the battery. Recently, though, I've heard the opposite—that using my phone or computer while it's charging might actually be beneficial, and that what really harms the battery is the process of charging itself. I haven't come across any expert opinions on this topic, so I'm curious to know which is actually true from a technical standpoint.

As someone who works in electronics, I can tell you that it probably won’t make a huge difference. Most modern devices have smart charging circuits designed to optimize battery performance and longevity. Batteries will naturally degrade over time regardless of usage. Just be mindful that using fast chargers can generate more heat, which tends to wear out batteries more quickly. Premium devices usually have pretty good charging circuits because they’re competing in the market.
Right, and on top of that, modern rechargeable batteries last longer when kept around 80% charged instead of fully charged. It's not the usage that wears them out, but the charging cycles. If you keep your battery nearly full, you won't use up the charge cycle as quickly!
