I'm considering an upgrade for my GPU in the future, potentially something like a 6800 XT, and it's got me thinking about monitors. Right now, I'm torn between buying a budget-friendly 1080p 240Hz monitor for around $110 or saving up for a 1440p 180Hz model later. My main focus is competitive games like Valorant, so the high refresh rate of the 240Hz monitor is appealing. However, since I'm currently using integrated graphics, I'm also unsure about which resolution would be best for me in the long term. I haven't had the chance to compare 1080p with 1440p hands-on, so I'm interested in understanding the real difference. Additionally, I like to indulge in AAA games and also enjoy watching series and movies, where 1440p would certainly enhance the experience. I'm leaning towards buying the 240Hz monitor to use for a while before possibly selling or trading it for a 1440p later. Do you think this is a smart approach or should I just aim to get the 1440p right away? Any insights would be great!

Honestly, I think going for the 1440p would be worth it. Not only do you get a noticeable clarity upgrade, but everyday tasks will feel smoother too. Plus, games like Valorant are easy to run, so you won't need to worry much about performance.
Once you make the switch to 1440p, you'll notice you can't go back to 1080p. There are lots of affordable 1440p 120Hz panels available now. Grab one, and trust me, you'll be thanking yourself later!
If you're already thinking about using 1080p now and then upgrading, I'd say that's a solid plan. Just keep in mind that using integrated graphics for 1440p might not be feasible; you might struggle with 1080p frame rates even for less demanding games like Valorant.
