My mom recently called Apple about extending the warranty on her damaged iPad. During the call, the person she spoke to asked her for her Apple ID, password, and the device's PIN. This raised some alarms for me because it seems unusual. Is this something Apple support actually does?

Totally sounds like a scam to me. I wouldn't trust that at all.
No way! That's definitely not standard practice for Apple. They usually never ask for your login details over the phone. If they need to help with something like turning off Find My iPad, they direct you to enter your password directly, not ask you to say it out loud.
I can't say for sure, but you should definitely be cautious. Here’s a link to get in touch with Apple support directly: support.apple.com/en-us/106932. It’s always safer to contact them through official channels.
Absolutely! No legitimate company asks for your login information like that. It sounds like she was talking to a scammer.
Make sure to check the number she called. Apple support will never ask for sensitive information like passwords or PINs. If it was actually Apple, I'd recommend calling back to report it.
