I recently noticed that my 9-month-old laptop's CPU reaches up to 90°C while playing Helldivers 2, while the GPU sits at 79°C. I'm currently on medium graphics, but I would prefer not to lower them too much. My laptop has an Intel i7-13620H and an RTX 4060. This is the highest temperature I've seen since I bought it, even with a cooling pad set to max. Should I consider forcing the fans to run faster? Right now, they're in auto mode, but it doesn't seem to cool effectively. I could also use the cooler boost mode, even though it makes a lot of noise without good headphones. Any suggestions?

Yeah, high temps during gaming are pretty typical. Using the cooler boost mode might help a bit, even if it gets loud. Just keep an eye on it—you don't want it to throttle or crash during gameplay. And if you think the auto fan setting isn’t cutting it, definitely try to manually adjust the fan speeds!
That temperature isn't unusual for a gaming laptop, especially when you're playing demanding games. Make sure your fans are clean and clear of dust, as that can really affect cooling performance. Helldivers 2 really pushes the CPU, so some heat is to be expected.
For sure, the auto setting can be hit or miss. Sometimes, cranking the fans manually is the best way to manage heat.
