I recently noticed that my Asus TUF RTX 5090 is pulling around 670W while doing some Video AI generation. I checked this using MSI Afterburner, and it registered as high as 678W! For comparison, my old TUF OC 4090 only drew up to 575W. I'm a bit worried since I have an EVGA P2 1000W platinum PSU. Is this amount of power draw normal?

On my 4090, I used a HOF OC BIOS which let it pull up to 600W, and I’ve seen an ASUS 1000W BIOS available too, but I wasn't brave enough to try it. For my RTX 5090, I plan on sticking with the stock BIOS. Just curious, is pulling 670W going to harm or degrade my GPU over time?
Yeah, it’s pretty common for AIB cards to draw more power than what the specs indicate. If it’s a concern for you, you might want to consider power limiting it to keep it in check. Just for reference, the 4090 was rated for 450W, so pulling 575W isn’t unheard of either.
From what I've heard, the 4090 Founders Edition could actually pull up to 600W if you maxed the power limit. If you're looking to limit the power draw, you can adjust these settings in MSI Afterburner.
