Hi everyone! I'm 28 years old and just got my first computer. After spending the last decade in jail, I've finally completed my time and I'm ready to start fresh. The county is currently helping me with housing, but I want to be independent and pursue a career in tech. I used to love playing video games and watching sci-fi movies as a teenager, and now I'm interested in learning Python, with hopes of eventually programming video games. I've noticed the rapid rise of AI, which feels overwhelming. I'm not sure if I can rely on AI to teach me coding or if I should stick to traditional books. What do you all recommend for a beginner like me?

Learning Python is a great start, but it won't necessarily land you a job right away. You'll need to build up a portfolio with real projects to stand out. It's definitely possible to learn in two years if you’re committed, but the job market for beginners is quite competitive right now. Just keep at it!

It's awesome that you want to get into coding! However, breaking into the gaming industry can be pretty challenging. While Python is great for beginners, many game developers prefer using languages like C++ or C#. If you're up for it, you could still start with Python and maybe transition later. Just remember to build some projects on your own!

Great point! Starting with Python will help you learn programming concepts, then you can move to more complex languages later.

AI can be a useful tool for learning coding. It can help you troubleshoot and answer specific questions as you learn. But remember, the key is to get hands-on experience by building projects. The job market isn’t easy right now, so be prepared for some challenges, but it’s worth pursuing your interest!

I totally agree! AI can assist, but personal projects will make your learning deeper.

While it’s great to learn Python, getting a job in the field isn’t guaranteed, especially as a newcomer with no degree. Regardless, coding is a valuable skill, and if you approach it as a hobby, it can be quite rewarding. Consider exploring other areas like web development too!

True! Coding can be fun as a hobby, and who knows, it might turn into more!

Starting at any age is definitely possible. I know people who learned in their 30s and succeeded in tech. Just focus on building your skills, and don't let the challenges hold you back. There are even online platforms like Codecademy that might help you learn effectively. Good luck!
