So, I was on IMDB looking up details about a movie to play in the background when I got a notification thanking me for creating an account. It threw me off since I definitely never signed up with my real name or any email. When I returned to the site, I saw my first name displayed in the top corner, and the account was apparently created today. I was just browsing in Google Chrome and didn't do anything that would typically create an account. Can someone explain how this could happen?

It sounds like your browser might have been signed into your Google account, and the site pulled your info without you even realizing it. Often, this kind of thing happens when users click on something that gives the site permission, even if it seems innocuous. Have you considered reaching out to IMDB to clarify how this happened? It might help and they could check if there's been any mix-up.

I doubt it was anything I clicked. I just looked at one movie page and didn’t intend to create an account. It’s weird because my Google profile is linked to a different email, but this new account is on my main one. I'll definitely contact IMDB.
