I'm completely new to PC gaming and I'm looking for some advice. I play games like Fallout 4 and find that consoles are holding me back, especially when it comes to modding. My budget is tight right now, with a maximum of $400. Is it even realistic to expect to find a good prebuilt PC in this price range that can handle AAA games? Any tips or guidance would be really appreciated!

If you're willing to look at used stuff, you might find an older model that can play some games at lower settings. Something like an OptiPlex with a used GPU could work, but don't expect great performance. Definitely not for AAA games coming out in 2026, though!
Honestly, it's going to be very tough to find a good prebuilt gaming PC for that price. You might be able to snag something used, but newer AAA games won’t run well, if at all. A used one from Facebook Marketplace might get you something that can run older games, but I'd say save up more if you really want to game well.
Yeah, I agree! It might be better to stick with consoles for now unless you're able to spend closer to $600 for a decent used setup.
The best option might be to save a bit more and then look for something like a used Ryzen setup. Components are just too pricey now; for $400, you’re really only looking at very entry-level options. I’d say if you can push towards $600, you might find something that holds up for a while.
Agreed! For now, keep an eye on the used market, and maybe scoop up some good deals when you see them.
Back when prices weren't insane, you could potentially get something decent for that budget. Now, not so much. I'd suggest checking out used tech or even looking into refurb options if you want something functional for gaming.
Refurbs could actually be a solid option! Just make sure you check the specs carefully to see what you can get.

Exactly! You probably need to manage expectations and may want to check out gaming laptops or wait until you can save up more money. Maybe even consider cloud gaming options for the time being.
