I have an old, broken Nintendo DS that my cat unfortunately damaged. It's not turning on at all, but it has some photos on it that I'd love to recover. I'm curious if there's any way to retrieve these pictures, especially since the device seems completely dead. If someone could shed some light on whether there's a chance of getting my photos back, I'd really appreciate it!

If you have a DSi or 3DS, there’s a chance your photos are stored on either the device's internal memory or on a micro SD card. If they’re on the micro SD, you’re in luck — just pop it out and you can recover the photos. But if they’re stored on the device itself and it’s not functioning, it’s going to be tough to retrieve them. Sorry to hear about your DS!

It really depends on which model you have. If it’s a standard DS or DS Lite, those don’t have an SD card slot, so you might be out of luck. But, if you have a DSi or a DSi XL, they do support SD cards! If your photos were saved on an external SD card, you can just pull it out and recover them that way. If they were saved to the console's memory, unfortunately, you probably won’t be able to get them back since the console is dead.
