Is it realistic to find a remote job in Europe that pays over 100K?

Hey everyone! I'm currently on the lookout for a new job since my US client wasn't too happy about me taking paternity leave. I'm curious about whether it's realistic to find a remote position in Europe that offers more than 100K. Has anyone managed to do this? I've thought about starting an LLC in the US to find clients there, but that seems complicated with all the bureaucracy. Another route I'm considering is specializing in a niche area like eBPF, especially since I have a background in embedded software. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with options like Kubernetes development, AI, and security, so any guidance would be much appreciated!

It's possible to find those types of jobs, but it's quite rare. Skills in Kubernetes, Go, and networking can definitely boost your chances.

I totally hear you! I'm not a fan of networking either, though.

From what I’ve seen in Switzerland, it's definitely possible to earn over 100K, especially at a senior level. Many of my friends make over 120K just doing development work like Java or JavaScript, and sometimes Go.

Honestly, hitting that 100K mark right now is pretty unrealistic in this job market. It's not impossible, though—the right resume can help! However, you might want to leverage your embedded experience as that could open more doors for you in specific niches.

True! $100K translates to around €73K, which is fairly low for DevOps positions in certain areas.

In Ireland, the average base pay for a senior DevOps engineer is over 100K, and some companies like Elastic and Sprout Social offer fully remote positions. However, you should be aware that outside of Dublin, it's tougher to land a senior role with that kind of salary. Plus, living costs in Dublin can be pretty insane!

Yeah, it's true! Getting a high salary is a lot easier in Dublin, but if you're looking to move outside the city, it can be really tough.
