Is it risky to use the same GPU between two different PCs?

I'm looking for some advice on whether it's okay to use one graphics card on two different computers since I split my time between my mom's and dad's houses. A couple of weeks ago, I asked about carrying my entire PC back and forth, and I'm now considering just taking the GPU instead. If I transport the GPU carefully in its original packaging, will there be any issues with the PCIe connector from repeated use, or any potential problems using it across two different setups? I really want to avoid getting a laptop or a smaller PC for gaming.

One thing to think about is that constantly plugging and unplugging your GPU might wear out the PCIe connector over time since they're not really designed for frequent disconnections. Personally, I’ve done this with my test rig quite a few times without any issues, but I've also expected some wear and tear. You might want to check out info on 'PCIe mating cycles' to get an idea of how durable they are.

Does it apply the same way if I use vertical GPU mounts?
